Responsive recruiter
TJ Larson - State Farm Agent is looking for a motivated, competitive professional to join our team as a full-time Account Representative.
This is a true sales position. Your primary responsibility is turning leads and prospective customers into new State Farm households by having conversations, identifying insurance needs, presenting appropriate options, following up consistently and asking for the business.
We invest in multiple lead sources to create opportunities for our sales team, including internet leads, inbound calls, State Farm-generated leads, digital advertising, live transfers and customer referrals.
We provide opportunities — you provide the activity, persistence and follow-up needed to turn those opportunities into customers.
This is a high-activity sales environment. Successful team members are comfortable spending significant time on the phone and maintaining the activity needed to consistently generate new opportunities — typically 75–100 outbound calls per day or at least 4 new household Auto/Home quote opportunities.
If you're competitive, coachable, comfortable hearing "no," motivated by performance-based income and enjoy the feeling of closing a sale, we'd like to meet you.
Compensation
- Starting base salary: $38,000–$45,000, based on experience and qualifications
- Uncapped commissions
- Realistic commission opportunity of approximately $2,000–$4,000 per month
- Realistic total compensation: approximately $62,000–$85,000+ annually, depending on experience and production
- Additional bonus and incentive opportunities, which can include trips
Benefits & Perks
- Health insurance
- SIMPLE IRA with 3% employer match
- 13 paid holidays, including your birthday off
- Paid time off and sick leave
- Monday–Friday schedule — no weekends or late nights
- Property & Casualty and Life & Health insurance licensing paid for upfront by the agency
- Multiple agency-funded lead sources
- Team-sponsored events, happy hours and other activities
- Opportunities to advance into sales leadership or management
- Long-term opportunity to pursue becoming a State Farm Agent for those interested in agency ownership
What You'll Do
Generate & Close New Business
- Work leads and opportunities generated through multiple agency-funded sources, including internet leads, inbound opportunities, live transfers, and referrals
- Make outbound calls and consistently follow up with prospective customers
- Generate new Auto and Home quote opportunities
- Ask questions to understand each prospect's insurance needs
- Present appropriate Auto, Home, Life and Health-related insurance options
- Ask for the business and confidently work through questions and objections
- Follow up with prospects who aren't ready to make an immediate decision
- Develop referrals and additional opportunities from the customers you help
- Consistently work toward individual activity and production goals
Take Ownership of the Sale
- Stay involved with new customers during their initial onboarding
- Make sure new policies issue correctly and as expected
- Help ensure billing is properly established and required documents are completed
- Follow up with new customers during approximately their first 30 days with the agency
- Provide a smooth handoff to our customer service team for ongoing account servicing
What We're Looking For
Insurance experience is helpful, but it isn't required. We're more interested in finding someone with the attitude, work ethic and sales mindset to become great at this role.
Our ideal candidate:
- Competitive and motivated by achieving measurable results
- Comfortable spending a significant portion of the day on the phone
- Able to handle rejection and move confidently into the next conversation
- Persistent with follow-up without losing professionalism
- Communicates confidently and builds rapport quickly
- Enjoys uncovering needs, presenting solutions and asking for the sale
- Motivated by the opportunity to increase income through performance
- Takes ownership of their pipeline and results
- Coachable and interested in continually improving
- Organized, positive and team-oriented
Previous insurance sales experience is helpful but not required. Successful sales experience in another industry is also valuable.
You must be able to obtain a Minnesota Property & Casualty Insurance License and Life & Health Insurance License. The agency pays licensing costs upfront.
What Success Looks Like
This is a performance-driven position with clear expectations. We provide multiple sources of leads and opportunities, but success requires consistent activity, follow-up and production.
Our sales team is expected to consistently create new quote opportunities, write new business across multiple insurance lines and help customers consider their broader insurance needs — not simply quote one product.
Your primary job is selling, not servicing a book of business. After you bring a new customer into the agency and help ensure their initial onboarding is completed correctly, our customer service team takes over their ongoing service needs so you can remain focused on generating and closing new business.
