Customer Service Representative - State Farm Agent Team Member

Full Time • Farmington MN
Responsive recruiter
TJ Larson - State Farm Agent  is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented professional to join our team as a full-time Customer Service Representative.

This is first and foremost a customer service position. You'll work with our existing customers to answer questions, make policy changes, help with billing and claims questions, and make sure they receive the level of service they expect from our agency.

As you learn the insurance business and grow in the role, you'll also have opportunities to conduct customer insurance reviews, identify gaps in coverage, and recommend additional products that may better protect our customers.

This is not a prospecting or cold-calling position. Sales opportunities come primarily from conversations with customers we already serve.

If you're someone who enjoys helping people, solving problems, staying organized, and taking ownership of your work, we'd like to meet you.

Compensation

  • Starting base salary: $45,000+, with higher starting compensation available based on experience and qualifications
  • Additional commission opportunities for identifying and helping meet the insurance needs of our existing customers
  • Typical additional commission opportunity of approximately $3,000–$8,000 per year
  • Additional bonus and incentive opportunities, which can include trips
Benefits & Perks

  • Health insurance
  • SIMPLE IRA with 3% employer match
  • 13 paid holidays, including your birthday off
  • Paid time off and sick leave
  • Monday–Friday schedule — no weekends or late nights
  • Property & Casualty and Life & Health insurance licensing paid for upfront by the agency
  • Team-sponsored events, happy hours and other activities
  • Opportunities for increased responsibility, leadership and management as you grow
  • Long-term opportunity to pursue becoming a State Farm Agent for those interested in agency ownership
What You'll Do

Primary responsibilities

  •  Service existing customers by phone, text, email and in person
  •  Answer policy, coverage, billing and eligibility questions
  •  Process policy changes, transfers and other requests
  •  Assist with claim-related questions
  •  Follow up and resolve outstanding customer needs
  •  Maintain accurate customer records
As you grow in the role

  •  Learn to conduct customer insurance reviews
  •  Identify coverage gaps and educate customers about options
  •  Recognize additional insurance needs through everyday customer conversations
What We're Looking For

You don't need to know everything about insurance on day one. We're looking for someone with the right attitude, communication skills and work ethic who is willing to learn.

Our ideal candidate is:

  • Genuinely committed to providing excellent customer service
  • Dependable and accountable — someone who follows through
  • Organized and attentive to details
  • Comfortable managing multiple customer needs and priorities throughout the day
  • A strong communicator who enjoys talking with people
  • Able to explain information clearly and make complicated topics easier to understand
  • Comfortable identifying additional customer needs and making recommendations when appropriate
  • Takes ownership of problems and follows through until they are resolved
  • Positive and team-oriented
  • Interested in learning, improving and taking on additional responsibility over time
Previous insurance or customer service experience is helpful, but not required.

You must be able to obtain a Minnesota Property & Casualty Insurance License and Life & Health Insurance License. The agency pays licensing costs upfront.
